Portraits 1995 - present

Portrait painting is one of my favourite activities, I appreciate the challenges is brings in creating a likeness as well as being thoughtfully executed. I was incredibly lucky to be taught by Russian artist, Alex Losett (formerly Anna Loseva) while attending Red Deer College. This education provided me with foundational skills in drawing that I apply to all my art making practices. Through portraiture, I hope to capture moments that relate to the sitter and the viewer, along with interesting storytelling elements. We are visual people and communicate through expression, gesture and perceive emotion through color and line.  My paintings and drawings portray an extraordinary intimacy and rich reference to our present, our history and for Canadian portraiture and storytelling in the 21st century.
